The 12th Symposium on Environmental Chemistry took place successfully from October 10-11, 2024, in the elegant setting of the Prémium Hotel Panoráma in Siófok. The event was organized by the Committee on Analytical and Environmental Chemistry (KKMB) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA), with the support of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE). The symposium aimed to bring together researchers and professionals working in the field of environmental chemistry, providing them with a platform to share and discuss the latest research findings.

Numerous presentations were delivered in Hungarian, offering a comprehensive overview of the current challenges in environmental chemistry, particularly regarding the environmental impacts of technologies and addressing issues related to climate change. Participants included leading researchers in the field, PhD students, and professionals from related disciplines such as meteorology and geology.

The symposium focused on sustainability and environmental protection, with special attention given to new analytical methods and environmental monitoring tools. It also served as an important forum for strengthening scientific collaborations and involving young researchers, who presented their PhD research and other innovative findings to the audience.

Both participants and organizers agreed that the symposium significantly contributed to the advancement of both domestic and international research in environmental chemistry. It is hoped that similar successful events will follow in the future.
