Objective of the Program:
The program aims to provide new knowledge and deepen existing ones for personnel in agricultural enterprises, advisory institutions, land offices, and administrative institutions dealing with soil-related issues. This is intended to enhance their capabilities for better and more professional task fulfillment. Additionally, for those with an engineering diploma, the program equips agricultural entrepreneurs with the latest soil-focused technologies. Another goal is to train professionals in directing and facilitating EU programs regulating and supporting soil use and protection.

Soil Science Engineer.

Participation Requirements for the Specialized Training: Engineering qualification obtained in basic or higher education in the agricultural field.

Duration of Training: 4 semesters in the correspondence course, comprising a minimum of 500 class hours and 120 credits.

Foundational Soil Science Knowledge (expressed in credits):

  • Soil Chemistry, Soil Physics, Soil Classification (22 credits, 10-20% of the program)

Soil Science and Applied Soil Science Subjects (expressed in credits):

  • Soil Sampling Methods, Soil Management, Soil Protection, Role of Soils in Nature and Environmental Protection, Applied Soil Biology, Experimental Methods, Data Evaluation, Soil Analysis Methods, Land Evaluation, Hungary's Soils - Field Practice (88 credits, 70-80% of the program)

Conditions for Obtaining the Professional Engineer's Diploma: Throughout the program, students participate in 167 hours of lectures and 342 hours of practical sessions (laboratory practices, seminars, planning practices). Additionally, there are field practices (144 hours) each semester, lasting 3-4 days. The program includes contributions from instructors not only from the department but also from other expert professionals. Examination requirements include 9 colloquiums, 2 practical assessments, 6 signatures, the completion of a thesis, and a successful defense and comprehensive oral examination in the final exam. The program, with a minimum of 20 applicants, starts in spring 2021 and concludes with the final exam in December 2022. The tuition fee is 200,000 HUF/person/first semester. This fee does not cover accommodation, meals, study materials, and the final exam costs. Any changes to the tuition fee follow the regulations outlined in Government Decree 51/2002. (II. 26.).
